Penial Fawr - Traditional Farmhouse Refurbishment

This was a traditional farmhouse comprising a main house with a rear extension and farm buildings attached to one side. It had not been occupied for some time and was in need of complete refurbishment.

The extension to the rear was in a very poor structural condition and had to be completely demolished. The building to the side of the main house was also in poor structural condition but was saved by taking the defective stonework down to first floor level and casting a reinforced concrete ring beam on top of the walls. The upper storey was rebuilt with a block cavity wall faced with natural stone built in lime mortar.

The property was extended considerably. The extensions were built in blockwork with stone facing to match the existing.

The roofs were slated using natural Welsh Slate.

The inside of the house was completely refurbished to create a luxury home of the highest quality.
